if Obama passes the auto industry $50B bail, i will never again buy another american made car.
(since we came to the states in the early ’80s my family has purchased only american cars.)
we need to allow to happen the natural decline of bad management & bad decision-making.
putting a small bandaid over a pus-infected wound and hoping that the bandaid is big enough to stop the leak doesn’t make the wound heal, and the infection can turn poisonous and kill the host.
we can’t print paper $ fast enough to bail everybody out.
i’m pissed that this is the kind of message and future bebe is going to grow up in.
btw i didn’t want the $700B bail to pass, either. my stance = NO. BAIL. FOR. ANYONE.

My family has only bought American cars too (except for one Nissan that we drove for like, 12 years). You think it’s an immigrant thing?
Well, until I bought a Honda Fit after moving to Texas. I needed something fuel-efficient, affordable, tiny (cuz I can’t park worth crap), but with cargo space.

I don’t know if it’s an immigrant thing, but we had the perception that American cars are heavier and therefore, “safer” in case of accident.
We got our Pontiac Grand Prix in 2000 and intend to keep it until bebe turns 16; he can have it as his first car if he earns $ to buy the title off us (for a very reasonable price, of course. He just won’t be gettin’ a free car.)
Man! I want to stop tracking the news bc it puts me in a sorry state but seriously I need to know how much longer I have before I lose all my $.

My dad definitely has something against Japanese cars, but he’s never really been able to explain it. I suspect the real answer is a grudge buried in Asian history.
Also: awesome on bebe and the Grand Prix. For some people I know, the age of the car they drive is a point of pride.
I also have a friend who bought a car for $1 (it had been totaled when the driver hit a deer), fixed it up, drove it for a while, and re-sold it for a profit. We called it the Buck Car. I had the privilege of borrowing it once.
